They're rewriting their whole Linux graphics stack, and when these drivers are released I doubt they'll support that many cards. This is because AMD isn't providing any at the moment. There are no such drivers for AMD cards in Mint 18 or its Ubuntu 16.04 base.

There's a very good reason you don't see any proprietary drivers listed. Mint/Ubuntu puts it there because it doesn't know any other place to put proprietary code. What you saw on the Driver Manager window was a CPU related kernel update, and not a driver.
